Max und Caroline arbeiten als Kellnerinnen in einem Fast-Food-Restaurant in Brooklyn. Zunächst hält die toughe, straßenerprobte Max ihre neue Kollegin Caroline, eine nun mittellose Tochter aus reichem Haus, für eine weitere ungeeignete Servierkraft. Doch schon bald entdeckt Max, die leckere und originelle Cupcakes backt, dass Caroline durch ihr finanzielles Wissen ein Glückstreffer ist. Die beiden ungleichen Frauen freunden sich an und träumen davon, gemeinsam ein eigenes Cupcake-Geschäft zu eröffnen. Da sie dazu mindestens 250.000 Dollar benötigen, beginnen sie ihr Trinkgeld anzusparen...
